FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What are the best settings for the Monocure resin with the Wanhao Duplicator 7 printer?
Monocure RAPID: 5 second layers. 3 base layers at 30 seconds and 0.080mm resolution. (White, Clear, Black and Grey)
Monocure STANDARD: 15 second layers, 4 base at 90 seconds and 0.035 - 0.1mm resolution. (White, Clear, Blue, Red, Yellow, Grey, Black)
How is Monocure 3D RAPID resin different from the STANDARD formula?
Our Rapid Resin has been developed for low powered LED DLP type printers (like the Wanhao D7) so it can have faster layer curing times. The STANDARD resin will cure at layer speeds of 15-20 seconds, while the RAPID will cure at 5-8 Seconds depending on the layer thickness.
I live overseas and was wondering if you had a distributor near by?
We have a number of resellers on-board and more coming soon. Please contact us if you want a local reseller, otherwise we have a great deal with DHL and can send anywhere in the world at very affordable prices. Usually delivery takes between 2-5 days depending where in the world you live.
Will Monocure 3D resin work with my printer?
We have tested our resin with a number of SLA & DLP 3D printers and have not had any compatibility issues. Monocure 3D resin has a very wide range of reactivity, UV wavelengths of 225nm to wavelengths of 420nm. By incorporating a blend of photo-initiators, monomers & sensitizers, almost any light source can be used to initiate the polymerization process of our resins. If you feel that the resin is not working how it should on your printer, please return the unused portion back to us for a full refund. (We have never had a bottle of resin sent back for a refund!)
Can I use Monocure 3D resin more than once?
The resin can be used a number of times, if it is strained with a fine strainer after each use, and kept away from any UV light source, including sunlight, during this process. Also, it is important not to contaminate the resin with foreign liquids such as water or IPA, dust, dirt or other particles.
How do I handle and wash up Monocure 3D Resin?
When handling the resin you should always wear gloves and safety glasses. Be careful not to get the resin on your skin as it may cause a slight irritation (see SDS for more details). Monocure 3D resin should be washed up using IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) and then water. Spills should be cleaned up using the same method with absorbent cloths to assist.
How should Monocure 3D resin be stored?
In the container that it came in and in a dark, cool place indoors. Also, ensure the lid is on securely & never allow it to have prolonged exposure to the sun.
Can I mix different colours to create a personalised colour?
Good question! We believe that this should be OK on most occasions, but we can't guarantee that the resin will act as promised if you mix the colours. It is important to understand that different colours require varying amounts of photo-initiator, so when mixing some colours there may be problems with curing and the durability of the resin once it is cured. We would suggest you only mix enough to make a small 'test' model to ensure it will work as expected. We will not refund resins that have been mixed, so this will be done at your own risk!
What UV wavelengths will Monocure 3D resin cure at?
Monocure 3D resin has a very wide range of reactivity, UV wavelengths of 225nm to wavelengths of 420nm. By incorporating a blend of photo-initiators, monomers & sensitizers, almost any light source can be used to initiate the polymerization process of our resins.
What's the best way to 'post cure' Monocure 3D resins?
Most SLA 3D printers will only cure the resin to about 90% after printing is complete. This is why the model may seem tacky or sticky even after is has been soaking in IPA for 15 minutes. The best way to 'post cure' the resin is to put your 3D printed model into a UV light box. If you don't have a light box you can use a transparent container filled with water, and leave it in the direct sun for about 15 - 20 minutes. This will help stop the resin from yellowing as it might when put in direct sunlight.
Why does the clear resin go cloudy when I put it in water?
Straight off the printer the surface of the resin is still a bit soft and is not water soluble. When you put it in water it causes it to go cloudy. Instead, just use IPA for wash up and then place in UV light box for post curing. The IPA will evaporate off in this process.
